Massinart unites a collective of Moroccan artisans specializing in leather goods, Berber decoration, and traditional textiles from Casablanca, Fes, and Marrakech. The commercial challenge was twofold: showcase centuries-old craftsmanship to demanding international clientele (Europe, North America, Gulf), while entrusting daily catalog management to non-technical artisans unfamiliar with e-commerce.
We also had to overcome classic Moroccan cross-border commerce barriers: payment trust, transparency on international shipping times, premium product photography, and above all multilingual SEO (FR/EN/ES) capable of positioning pieces in competitive markets. PCI-DSS security and technical SEO were non-negotiable prerequisites.

Massinart
Development of a high-performance WordPress e-commerce platform for a collective of artisans in Casablanca, optimized for international SEO to promote Moroccan craftsmanship.
Challenge
Solution
I developed a custom e-commerce platform with WordPress and WooCommerce, backed by a fully custom theme designed for performance (optimized Core Web Vitals, WebP lazy-loading, server-side caching). The multilingual architecture relies on WPML with dedicated language URLs and properly implemented hreflang tags for international SEO.
The back-office interface was simplified to the extreme: artisans manage products via preconfigured templates, with batch photo and storytelling sheet imports. I integrated Stripe and PayPal for international payments, plus a multi-zone shipping calculator (DHL, Aramex, Poste Maroc). Technical SEO includes Product/Offer structured data, XML sitemaps, image optimization, collection-based internal linking, and an editorial blog targeting long-tail queries around Moroccan craftsmanship.

Results
Six months after launch, the platform shows +40% international organic traffic, with conversion rates up 15%. The site ranks on Google's first page for targeted queries like 'Moroccan leather bag' and 'berber rug handmade' in the US and Europe.
The collective saw its export revenue triple and was able to onboard new artisans thanks to platform scalability. Brand image strengthened, with editorial features in international lifestyle media. Massinart became a credible showcase of Moroccan craftsmanship for export.
