World Folklore Days Marrakech — International Folk Festival Website

Design and development of the official World Folklore Days Marrakech website, an international festival bringing together folkloric troupes from around the world in Morocco's ochre city, bilingual French/Arabic.

Challenge

World Folklore Days Marrakech needed a website capable of representing the festival's cultural richness and diversity internationally. The site had to be bilingual (French/Arabic) to reflect the Moroccan identity of the festival while remaining accessible to an international audience. The graphic challenge was conveying the soul of Moroccan folklore — embroidered costumes, traditional music, crafts — through a design that is both authentic and modern. Supporting right-to-left writing for Arabic within WordPress presented a specific technical challenge.

Solution

I designed and developed the World Folklore Days website on WordPress with a strong visual identity inspired by traditional Moroccan art: ornate arches, ochre and gold colours, evocative folkloric illustrations. The bilingual FR/AR site offers navigation adapted to both languages, with native right-to-left writing support for the Arabic version. Sections present the festival, participating international troupes, the show programme, and practical information for Marrakech.

Results

The website contributed to the international reach of World Folklore Days Marrakech, attracting folkloric troupes from several continents. The bilingual FR/AR presence reinforced the festival's Moroccan roots while facilitating access for foreign participants. The strong visual identity allowed the festival to stand out in digital communications and media channels specialised in cultural festivals.
