Challenge

Design an elegant, premium online store for Zayna Cosmetics, a Moroccan natural cosmetics brand based in Fès, addressing a discerning clientele seeking authentic products formulated from local ingredients (argan oil, ghassoul, orange blossom).

The challenge: translate the brand's sensory universe and natural DNA into a credible digital experience capable of competing with international e-commerce players. It was also essential to deliver a flawless mobile shopping journey — over 75% of cosmetics traffic in Morocco comes from smartphones — while integrating local payment methods (CMI, bank transfer, cash on delivery) expected by Moroccan shoppers.

Solution

I built a fully custom Shopify theme, engineered for performance and brand storytelling. The architecture showcases large-format product photography, with a streamlined purchase flow that naturally guides shoppers from product page to checkout.

CMI payment gateway integration for local bank cards, complemented by cash-on-delivery and bank transfer options. Core Web Vitals optimization with critical image preloading, lazy loading and WebP compression. I implemented a robust variant system (size, fragrance), a cross-sell module targeting beauty routines, and verified customer reviews.

Local SEO layer: Schema.org Product markup, optimized pages targeting queries like "natural cosmetics Morocco" and "organic argan oil Fès", plus a blog content strategy around Moroccan beauty rituals. GA4 tracking and Meta Pixel set up for retargeting.

Results

A 50% increase in online sales within the first three months after launch, with a mobile conversion rate well above the Moroccan cosmetics sector average.

High smartphone engagement — average time on site exceeding three minutes — and excellent customer feedback on the smoothness of the purchase journey. Average basket value grew thanks to routine-based product suggestions. The brand now operates a profitable direct-to-consumer channel complementing its physical Fès storefronts, with a scalable technical foundation ready for upcoming seasonal collections.
